Kind of hard making a police documentary in a country where nothing really ever happen. They even have to invent situations to film haha
For that “Cops” is much better... One night with a couple of cops and hop, you got your TV show :)

It’s very true. The “crimes” reported are along the line with people stealing underwears drying outside or old people shop lifting. Once in a while you have a protitution story where a “pinsaro” (blowjob) place got a bit too nice with a few customers letting them put their dick elsewhere that in a girl’s mouth... Or people sent to jail a couple years for growing marijuana in their garden. Pervs taking pictures of girls in trains...
Other than that, really, NOTHING ever happens. Being a random cop in Japan is pretty relaxing lol. Unless you’re one of the guy who has to deal with suicides, that must suck. Other than that... Yakuza do their own shit and rarely bother the population, bosozoku make noise in crappy bikes... A couple of street racer on freeways.
Any random murder make it to national television here so...

Sounds like my town of 130k population. Random things make the news like some 18y/os with <1 gramme of marijuana or some guys drifting their bimmers around the largest roundabout in my town. I really want to visit Japan sometime.

In Finland we have several cop show running. One of them covers real situations but re-enacted (like this one here). The rest have real cops in real situations. Nearly always their situations are related to drunk people fighting/partying/sleeping/driving. Sometimes they are looking for something stolen. The cops seem to be the friendliest cops that they have managed to find from the cities that they are filming in.
These are my brother’s favorite TV shows so I know this much.
Working as a cop is generally quite easy and safe in Finland but an exception happened during the last weekend. One nutjob did kill one cop and injured another one with an illegal assault rifle.

I think when I was in Tokyo last year I never saw a police car with their emergency lights on.
